Our class uses the Writing Workshop to teach writing. This method involves 5-15 minute mini-lessons, 15-30 minutes of independent writing during which I conference with individual students about their writing, and 5-15 minutes of time for the students to share their writing with the class. The topic of my mini-lessons vary depending on what I notice my students need during conferencing. The topics range from using correct capitalization, punctuation, and spelling to adding details, using dialogue, or staying on topic.
